Stamford, CT Attorney Representing Clients for Family Visas, Green Cards, Citizenship, and Naturalization

At Gonzalez Law Office, LLC, we are committed to going the extra mile to ensure that families are able to stay together throughout their immigration journey. Attorney Hector Gonzalez has over 15 years of experience assisting clients with a wide range of immigration issues in Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY. Attorney Gonzalez understands the seemingly endless paperwork and numerous hurdles immigrants must clear to obtain legal status in the United States. His mission is to help clients overcome these obstacles, so they can begin their new life in America.

Practice Area Overview

Attorney Gonzalez focuses almost exclusively on immigration law. His practice areas include:

  • Family-Based Immigration: Attorney Gonzalez assists clients with all types of family visas. He has extensive knowledge of the visa process and the qualifications that must be met to apply for Immediate Relative visas, Family Preference visas, and K visas (for fiancés and spouses). During the process, some applicants may require an adjustment of status to obtain a green card. Attorney Gonzalez consults with clients to determine the best legal path, and he guides them through the entire process from start to finish.
  • Visa Denial Assistance: If an application is denied by the USCIS, it may still be possible to rectify the situation. Attorney Gonzalez thoroughly assesses the case to determine if there is a way to successfully address the issues that led to the denial. For example, in some cases, applicants may qualify for a waiver of inadmissibility based on their circumstances: lawful permanent resident cancellation, misrepresentation/fraud, prior deportations/removals, unlawful presence, crimes of moral turpitude, and simple marijuana possession. Applicants may also qualify based on eligibility under a specific program. Examples include the Legal Immigration Family Equity (LIFE) Act, Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and asylum.
  • Deportation/Removal Defense: Receiving a Notice to Appear (NTA) in front of an immigration judge is a scary experience. If you are facing deportation due to an expired visa, unlawful presence, criminal charges, or any other reason, Attorney Gonzalez can advise you of your best options and provide a strong and aggressive removal defense. It could be that the NTA is a bureaucratic error or based on a minor legal technicality. If the charge is serious, you may still qualify for a waiver based on the circumstances or one of the aforementioned programs.
  • Citizenship and Naturalization: Becoming a naturalized citizen is the culmination of a long and difficult immigration journey. Once you qualify to apply for citizenship, the process can take several months up to a year or so to complete. Citizenship is a major achievement that solidifies your status as an American. Attorney Gonzalez guides clients through the citizenship and naturalization process, so he can help them celebrate becoming a U.S. citizen.

Aside from immigration, attorney Gonzalez also helps divorcing couples with uncontested divorces.
